Alexander E. Weingarten, MD, is a partner at Comprehensive Pain Management Associates in Syosset, New York. He is also the owner and founder of New York Medical Consultant, PC and Tristate Experts Corp in Syosset, New York.  He recently started one of the first physician-owned toxicology laboratories in New York State. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. Dr. Weingarten completed his internship in Internal Medicine and residency in Anesthesiology at Long Island Jewish-Hillside Medical Center in New Hyde Park, New York, followed by a pediatric fellowship in Anesthesiology at the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. He is board-certified by the American Academy of Pain Medicine with a Subspecialty Certification in Pain Management and Certificate of Added Qualifications in Pain Management from the American Board of Anesthesiology.

Dr. Weingarten is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Pain Management, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, International Anesthesia Research Society, American Pain Society, and American Society of Interventional Pain Management Physicians. He has spent a significant amount of time treating patients with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) and instituted a treatment protocol using intravenous lidocaine infusion program to treat patients using continuous monitoring and critical care nursing in an outpatient office setting. These patients typically receive improvement of their neuropathic symptoms lasting up to six weeks.  He is also the past president and founder of the New York State Pain Society.

He is currently an attending anesthesiologist at the North Shore Long Island Jewish Healthcare System, St. Joseph’s Hospital (Bethpage, NY), and Wyckoff Hospital (Brooklyn, NY). He is also the director of pain management at the Day-Op Center (Mineola, NY).  He recently was appointed as a clinical professor of the Department of Pharmacology of New York Medical College.  He regularly mentors and lectures to medical students and residents. Dr. Weingarten has lectured extensively about safe opioid prescribing. He recently authored a chapter entitled Interventional Pain Management Procedures and another chapter pertaining to radiofrequency ablation. He continues to practice anesthesiology on a part-time basis.
